Messianic Dance

Psalms 149:3 "Let them praise His name with dancing"

What is Messianic Dance?

Messianic dances are circle worship and praise dances that combine choreographed Israeli folk and Middle Eastern folk steps to contemporary worship music. At Beth Yeshua, dancing is a part of our congregational worship. Therefore, we encourage everyone to worship the Lord in the dance.

Why do we dance?

At Beth Yeshua, we dance to express our love, praise, adoration and joy to the Lord! Historians have found that dance was a significant part of worship and celebration during the Second Temple period, in the time of Yeshua (Jesus). Dance has always been the Jewish depiction of celebration, life cycles, religious holidays and triumph in warfare within the Jewish faith community. The basis for our style of worship is found in the following scriptures:

Exodus 15:20: Miriam and the other women respond to God's triumph over the Egyptians in an expression of dance.

Judges 11:34: Jephthah's daughter came out to meet her father with timbrels and dance after the victory the Lord had given in the battle against the Ammonites.

Judges 21:21: We can note harvest dances.

2 Samuel 6:14 describes how David led the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem when he "danced before the LORD with all his might."

Jeremiah 31:13 shows us that God's redemption causes His people to dance before Him. Verse 4, dance is seen as a response to God's love for His people.
